Read here how to get started and find your dosha!
Ayurveda is considered the "sister science" of Yoga, and has been practiced and studied in India for the past 5000 years. The word Ayurveda is a combination of ayur - which means life, and veda - which means knowledge. The science of life!

Ayurveda deals with our entire existence - its components and qualities. The Ayurvedic approach to health and well-being is achieved through five things: food, herbs, massage, yoga and lifestyle.
With Ayurveda, you restore the body's ability to maintain balance, despite the countless and very varying influences that constantly come from our surroundings and lifestyles.
The body consists of the 5 elements called Pancha Marabuthas.
Earth, water, fire, air, space (translated from: eather/ space)
All of these qualities can be too exaggerated - too activated - or too weak - underactivated.
The next step to feeling better is to know your own unique combination of the five elements in your own body. This combination is called your dosha (and prakruti).
One's dosha should be understood as a principle, a tendency, a quality, and can be described as the physical forces in your body. The doshas tell us about the body's weakness, and when we know about the weaknesses - we can prevent diseases and heal ourselves.
Ayurveda helps us balance all areas, both physical and mental. You can find answers to all problems, and will mostly realize that they exist because your dosha is out of balance.
There are mechanisms in your body that you were not aware of. You correct this with the right diet, drinking at the right times in relation to when you eat, having healthy routines that also include skin care, detox and other cleansing techniques, self-massage with oils, the right exercise, activities that suit your dosha, etc.
And suddenly a clear picture emerges for you about what type of person you are. YOU begin to understand this great system on a deeper level and it becomes easier to balance yourself in everything you do.
You can easily find dosha tests online to get a taste of your dosha.
Here is a really good test from Deepak Chopra in English.
