Yoga/Cultural Retreat on the Island of the Gods
Bali in Nov. 2026

A transformative journey
This yoga retreat is a unique opportunity to have a different and life-changing journey. In the meeting with my Balinese friends we get behind Bali's tourist facade - into the essence of their culture.
From 2013-2015 my family and I lived in Ubud, Bali. We got very close to the Balinese, experienced their frugal everyday life filled with enthusiasm for nature, the simple things in life and, not least, their warm and spacious way of being.
It has inspired us enormously and given us insight that we still cannot imagine living without, and has led to me taking people on these completely unique trips today.

Bubbly joy of life....
Bali is a potpourri of incomprehensible beauty, culture, mysticism and art. A true mecca for everything related to yoga and spirituality. Bali's Hinduism and spirituality are beautifully visible everywhere with thousands of temples, statues and flower offerings. You often encounter ceremonial processions. The women with towering headpieces of flowers and fruit, accompanied by the men who walk playing the giant exotic-sounding gongs and gamelans (Balinese bamboo instruments). The Balinese form of Hinduism is called Agama Tirta and they practice Bakti-yoga, where you show respect and gratitude for the universe by decorating and offering with incense, flowers, candles and beautiful hand gestures that calibrate and send the good energy in the right direction.
You see it everywhere every day - and very quickly you yourself become part of this wonderful positive atmosphere full of gratitude and bubbling joy of life...

A meeting with the Balinese
Many of the cultural experiences of the trip are based on my unique connections to our sweet Balinese friends and acquaintances. Through them we get to the essence of the island and its culture. The Balinese are a very talkative, curious and welcoming people. Most of them live very close in what is called family compounds their whole lives, and this makes them very social and open. You feel welcome in most places you go and it is not unusual for them to ask where you are from and where you are going. It is a natural part of their culture to show this kind of attention and interest. So if you are open and want to talk to them a little, you will get so much in return. It is not at all unusual to be invited to a Balinese party or ceremony with people you have just met.
You can quickly make your own Balinese friends.

Strong experiences with spirituality and folklore
The day trips include an authentic mountain village where our friend Nyoman is the highest priest. We walk around his village, greet the residents, see the town's temples, school, etc.
We go on a boat trip out on the volcanic lake to a Hindu burial site with human skulls and burial cages.
Water blessings are essential to the Balinese religion, and we will experience a cleansing ritual. It is a fun and exciting experience, where you will feel more clear-headed and in touch with your higher self afterwards.
We visit one of the impressive main temples, where we will bathe in purifying springs that are said to cleanse the chakras and one's karma from both this and past lives.
We will also experience a Kecak Fire & Trance performance, where men dance on glowing coals in one of Ubud's temples.

Ubud - a holistic mecca
Ubud itself, on the outskirts of which we live, is called the holistic and artistic pearl of Asia - this area is incomparable to anything else in the world.
Everywhere the cozy hilly streets wind their way, full of flowering trees, small quirky houses, street altars and temples.
Ubud market is the beating heart of the city and is packed with handicrafts of all kinds.
Everywhere there is a buzz of working workshops, cozy restaurants and cafes and here there are always the latest trends in detox juices, smoothies, vegan and vegetarian food. You will also find a number of galleries, art museums and beautiful shops that tempt you beyond your capacity with everything your heart desires.
We will see it all and also have time to walk in the spectacular rice fields and possibly to the enchanting Monkey Forest, a tropical
jungle in the middle of the city full of animal sculptures, small waterfalls,
lianas and monkeys.

Jungle resorts
Sattvic is an Ayurvedic word that means
clean, positive, healing, balancing, inspiring.
An important part of the retreat is that we live in a sattvic place,
and I make a lot of effort to find nice resorts,
What I strive for at our resort is:
- authentic Balinese atmosphere
- clean, beautiful rooms with private bathroom/toilet
- nice staff
- space to recover in well-maintained gardens with pool
- good view of healing nature
- good food
- possibility of purchasing extra massages/treatments etc.

Food/Culture Workshop
The program includes sessions where we learn to make easy Indonesian dishes and the Balinese health drink Jamu. Bali's gastronomy is very advanced and takes into account the north, south, east, west in the composition of their meals to create harmony in the flavors. We learn to make sambal's, peanut sauce, Bali pickles, rendang with jackfruit etc. and you will of course get recipes to take home.
My Balinese friend Putu is coming and spending an afternoon with us where we will learn about Balinese culture, about their Bakti Yoga. We will weave sacrificial baskets and then finish with a small sacrificial ritual that Putu will lead.

Catering
Let me start by saying - you will definitely come to
to taste something new and different.
In Bali, you are used to tourists from all over the world and in the vast majority of cafes and restaurants, the menu is totally up to date - modern and refreshing and fusion-like! Salads and health juices, exciting new vegetable dishes a la raw food, slow food, and yoga food - you name it - they have it.
In short, there is something for every taste - also for vegetarians. The Indonesians themselves love spicy/sweet dishes with sambal. It is a chili paste they blend of small fresh chilies and small onions. Tastes heavenly. Rice table originates from Indonesia, and you will find many small lunch kitchens called Warungs, where there is a display case full of different dishes you can choose from. Here the dishes are often somewhat stronger than at tourist-friendly cafes. This is - the real deal - and must be tried!

Yoga, calm and meditation.
Throughout the retreat you are invited into beautiful and liberating yoga in beautiful, tranquil surroundings, where nature is an active part of the experience. Most days there will be sessions both morning and afternoon/evening – with the exception of the days when we are on tour.
The teaching is organized so that everyone can participate.
I teach many different forms of yoga on a daily basis and at all levels, and you will therefore find that you are guided safely through the practice, no matter how much (or little) yoga experience you have.
I am a trained master in yoga and also work with Ayurveda. At the retreat you will have the opportunity to experience a wide range of yoga forms, including:
Hatha, Yin, Kundalini, Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation and meditation)
In addition, we will dive into the world of Ayurveda through a workshop where you will gain insight into your dosha – your unique composition of elements – and learn how you can create more balance in your everyday life.

Waves and fresh ocean air after your retreat
You can't go to Indonesia without also experiencing their spectacular archipelago, beaches and the charming simple island life that nourishes body and soul. This is not included in my retreats but I recommend people to do it after the retreat ends.
Common to Bali's surrounding islands is that there are only small tuk-tuks and mopeds. Here there is the most wonderful relaxing island atmosphere, where you can just enjoy, let time stand still, and relax thoroughly in the sun. Here you can experience beautiful sunrises and snorkel trips by boat in the crystal-clear water full of fish and if you are lucky also turtles. Here you rent scooters and drive around like a free bird and soak it all up! I am happy to help with your planning.
